Make progress throughout the character's journey as a jumping adventurer

Project Details

  • Small open level for simple 3Cs contemplative game, in Unreal Engine 5.3

  • 3 days of work | ~ 20h

  • Focus on Level Design and player's behavior

  • Project based on a tech level designer test

  • 3D meshes from Unreal Engine marketplace and sketchfab

2D Topdown Level Design

These are my different approaches to create this level, from paper to photoshop. The map is not fully up to date since the map changed during the 3D creative process.

What I implemented

Vantage Point

Here the goal is to give a nice "wow" emotion to the player when they discover the whole map and its landmarks.

Since this map is supposed to be one zone of a whole open world, the major landmark must be seen from all around the map

Guiding the player

It is important to guide the player using vegetation and terrain. I used buildings, mountains and vegetation to help me redirect the players toward their objectives

Point Of Interests

In this project, I had to create many POIs to make sure player will enjoy journey throughout the map. It was interesting to create and difficult since I didn't want players to feel overwhelmed by the POIs and lose their main objective
